Here's another on for your comments and feedback.

What's the difference between the role of the Decorator and the Event Coordinator?

Looking forward to your comments

  1. I think that the role of the decorator is to decorate the venue, whereas the event coordinator is in charge of all aspects of the event, including overseeing the decor.

  2. I agree with Nellii. The event coordinator has a much larger responsibility to ensure that the entire function goes off without a hitch and to the liking of the client.

  3. You ladies hit the hammer on the nail.
The Coordinator coordinates, by delegating responsibilities depending on how large a scale his or her business is.

  4. Agreed. An Event Coordinator is responsible for the entire event which will include the decorations. Of course, the Event Coordinator can also be the Decorator, which is commonly the case.

  5. well well , i must say that i have had some brilliant commentators. its so true, but the question was really put out there, because many times the clients seem to think that both roles are automatically rolled into one.

  6. Posting for my friend Petra, who is unable to post her comment.

Probably what needs to be clear is, which role you are occupying and the overall impact. As the event coordinator you can give advice on decor if you are required or expected to complete that service yourself then that should be billed separately. Or you could set out your fees in such a way that the differentiation between the two roles is clear.

  7. To add to Petra’s comment: I would probably clearly define the responsibility of each role/service as you intend to offer it along with the fee.
